WQ6X Blast from the PAST: NAQP RTTY - Part 2

After having been informed that WQ6X took 1st-place in the QRP assisted category for the NAQP RTTY contest, K6UFO wrote me and asked for a write-up and pictures.  Altho I had just published
a Blog on that event, it occurred to me that the last Blast from the Past Blog on this contest was written 6 years, creating the impetus to create a Part 2 on this topic.

Beginning with the original BLAST Blog, there are quite a number of entries regarding NAQP RTTY:

  1. July 2019 - WQ6X Blast from the PAST: NAQP RTTY

The opening segment of this BLAST from Past Blog:
In addition to running the RTTY RU and WPX RTTY GiGs, over the years,
I have discovered the NAQP RTTY to be an excellent 12-hour diversion from
the insanity of the world I live in.
The first NAQP RTTY GiG happened in 2013, and I've never been the same since.

  2. July 2019 - WQ6X Solo-OP's NAQP RTTY - It Ain't Over 'Til it's Over

This GiG was WQ6X's first time being a part of a SCCC contest team.
With N6KI's help, a 5-watt signal from the radio produced 99-watts from
an Expert IC-2KL amplifier onsite at the Fallbrook location.

  3. July 2020 - WQ6X Works a slippery-slope NAQP RTTY Contest

This has to be one of the strangest (if not THE strangest) NAQP RTTY contest in July EVER.
It came out of nowhere and almost didn't happen TWICE.  At the very least, this weekend was
an embodiment of how important sticking to your original plan REALLY is.

  4. July 2021 - WQ6X Negotiates another Summertime NAQP RTTY Contest

The NAQP RTTY contest is an excellent event from which to learn RTTY contest operating procedure.  Because we send our Name and QTH, the information exchange becomes more personable, encouraging more exchanges.

  5. July 2022 - WQ6X NiT PiCKs another NAQP RTTY Contest

While I increasingly enjoy RTTY radiosport events, since February, several [European-based] GiGs have been cancelled (for various reasons) largely due to the Russia ==> Ukraine conflict.
At least we enjoyed the ARRL RTTY RY and WPX RTTY GiGs before all the confusion set in.

  6. July 2023 - WQ6X Runs a near-Negligible NAQP RTTY Contest

This mid-July event seemed destined for a late start right from the beginning.  S&P'ing and calling CQ during the first hour yielded nothing.  Assuming poor band condx, the decision
was to open the contest with the mandatory 2-hour off-time, leaving the remaining 10-hours
to do with as I please.

  7. Feb  2024 - WQ6X Weasels a Weird Multi-remote Radiosport Weekend

During the 1st-two hours of the NAP GiG, I couldn't find the radiosport "Zen place" I always
endeavor to slip into.  Eventually, WQ6X found the radiosport-groove, running frequencies in 10m, 15m & 20m, with some judicious S&P hunting in between.  While sometimes difficult to hold a run frequency running QRP, once in the clear, calling stations dutifully lined-up for their chance to work the illusive WQ6X.

  8. July 2024 - WQ6X SQUEAKs Thru another NAQP RTTY Contest

Rather than play the remote QRP game, this year's July NAQP RTTY GiG was run Low Power
to test the new antenna system at W7AYT's QTH.  It also provided the opportunity to re-evaluate
the Stereo-RTTY method, recently written up in a recent Blog ([CLICK HERE] to read that).

  9. Feb  2025 - WQ6X Wobbles thru a WEIRD CQ-160 + NAQP RTTY WeeKend

Altho the NAQP RTTY is a 12-hour affair, I only managed 96 QSOs for nearly 4-hours of
op-time. While I was one of 3 OPs in the SCCC contest group, we all had compromised situations, so I didn't expect super scores from any of us - only that our team was on the list.
With 12-Years of NAQP RTTY GiGs behind me, now that I am largely playing the QRP game, the NAQP GiGs continue to be a challenge and have been a new source of 1st-place log submissions.

Do YOU play in the NAQP RTTY GiG?

Is WQ6X in any of YOUR LoGs?
