WQ6X Readies the Radio for another RTTY RU

This year's RTTY Roundup (RU) is remanent of the 2014 DX-pedition to run the RU w/N6GEO
as WP2/WQ6X from the KP2M (Radio Reef) location in that they both happen only a couple of
days after New Years - the difference being no time was spent in airports prior to the 2o26 event.

Checking last year's results and the ARRL contest records page, it was determined the SOU QRP record has yet to be set for San Diego (SDG) ARRL section.  On New Year's Eve Day, the correct cabling configuration was devised to run the RTTY RU GiG remotely from Ramona, again using the registered W6R callsign as was done for the 2o25 RTTY RU GiG.

Because there is no actual RTTY configuration configured at the station in Ramona, the RTTY
tones must be generated by running N1MM+ on my end of the remote connection directly into
the RRC-1258 internet interface unit by way of a vintage RigExpert PLUS computer interface unit,
while running swapped audio cables between the Toshiba Dynadok (docking port) and the K3/0-mini control.

While TesTing the RTTY configuration on 20-meters, VY1CO was also testing, evidently having RX/decode difficulties.  He said my [then] 60-watt RTTY signal was quite loud, despite the 3-el Stepp-IR yagi pointing towards Europe rather Northwest Territories., which is more-or-less at 350-degrees azimuth from So. California.  While the RTTY method is considered a full-duty cycle mode, the decision to run, the decision to run QRP will keep the remote K3 radio completely cool.

Altho the RTTY RU runs a full 30-hours, single-OP operations are only allowed to operate 24 out of the 30 hours.  (Multi-OP stations can operate all 30 hours.).  Making all this work requires carefully coordinated off-time periods.  Client commitments will keep me off the air for the 1st 3-hours, partially solving the off-time requirement.

Do YOU Do RTTY

Will YOU be running the ARRL RTTY Roundup (RU) contest?

Look for W6R (and maybe later WQ6X) to make this all work.
